Continued...I will start with a particular strain: Tear 'o Shean, Ge'onna,Royce Bane, Makta. Both of the female vampires have only been transformed in recent years; however, both Royce Bane and Tear o' Shean are quite old. A cure for them would result in their eternal sleep. For some time Makta wished to be returned to her human state. I and a few others Tetch and Blade included, have tried to help cure her. However, she no longer searches for redemption. She has concealed the fact that she as either been retransformed or not cured as she stated months ago. I do not know if she is fully acting of her own accord in this matter. She was in part able to resist the call to destroy us at this last Death Bunnies. She left a token of this with me during our final confrontation. I see it as possible to cure Makta, and a good starting point as her cure may show us the way to curing others. However, I will restate that her will is changing with time and she is passing further and further from humanity. I know that Ge'onna is attempting to create thralls, as that is part of her raise dead spell. The third time will transform one into undeath. I have little hope for her soul; however, she may be capable of redemption, and I may allow her that chance. But make no mistake, there is a quarrel between us and she wants my scalp. I have known Tear o' Shean to be nothing but self serving. At Creathorne, Tear o' Shean nearly pulled Chimeron and its alias into a confrontation that would have been the death of the Church of Chaos. As the resulting meeting concluded, all real wrongs against the church where preformed by Tear o' Shean himself with the intent of bring him alias with which to destroy the church. Of Royce Bane, I have seen little wrong and believe that his soul deserves a rest. Of Jerimah the Vampire. This once elf is older than Tear o' Shean. He is in direct league with Loth a demon spider queen. He can not hide from the crimes of his soul, but openly admitts that depths of evil to which he has sunk. He may hypnotize if you allow him to make direct eye contact with you. He is but temporarily slain by magic weapons. Mithril, the true silver (and magic) is required for his death, which must happen at his abode. There Lolth will also be faced, and a magic weapon must be left in her miserable hide if you would wish to return from the venture. Jerimah has taken nearly a hundred "open-minded" people under his influence at our last meeting, but Bane he has taken into his undeath with him, damning her to that dark existance. I have seen this vampire close enough to know that he must be destroyed. McKrye Last evening, I received a messenger from Sir Randall the Light. The messenger bore a letter regarding the actions that we took (myself especially) iin the South this summer. In particular, Randall has begun to discover the history of the lich who I destroyed, in order to break down the tower... It seems that the lich was a mage or priest who was falsely (?) accused of causing an epidemic in Coventry. One of the knights of the Crown slew him in a fit of rage, and let his soul brood more and more deeply on his anger. Eventually the spirit of this mage became the lich I saw struggling with Randall. He has cpatured knights at the time of their death and forced their souls into servitude (creating Death Knights), out of unwilling subjects. The tone of Randall's missive implied that he was not destroyed. I need to ask him if he knows more (for instance, is the lich still imprisoned in the bauble I have?). Just updating you on what I know. If anyone wants more specifics, I will have my Alyas send out the rest of the information. I have been talking to Tetch a little lately and I wanted to make a few notes. Tanith and the Grey Company have left the board. Three black pieces turned white then moved to the side of the board as if waiting (the gargoyles?). Zermarks is now on this plane, and the cult continues to make wraiths and vampires. (wraithes are hurt only by magic weapons, but have 6 points of armor) The items that I carry (the mace, shield and armor) stand out like a beacon to Zermarks. (funny that) Tetch said that we might find aid from Solen.... (the watcher? in the wood) and Mal... (he's been broken, but might be our only chance, a self made guardian) I apologize for spacing the names, but I didn't have anything to write the names on immediately after Tetch gave then. I am certain that either Lorhner or Merekat know the names and I will remember them when I see/hear them again. Mariah has plans for several of Chimeron's ladies. This is an explorers note's. I do not know how if if this is significant. ANCIENT RELIGION musings of the (self-proclaimed) Lost Scribe Travelers from the North often return and often do not. The Northern Waste is least explored of the Realms and has always been a mystery to those who seek earthly knowledge as well as the wisdom of known gods. Once, I was waylaid by a small band of what I thought were thugs of the fields, in the upper explored North, above the Free City. Seeing the lack of earthly objects that I had in my possession, one of the boys (for that is what they were in truth) seemed intent on searching my books. I tried to explain what some of the pictures were, but the only one he seemed to decipher was a gilded water sprite lying on a fountain, from a bedtime childrens book of the Western Backayland. The poor boy relinquished the hold on the book and bent his arms in a holy reverence. It took some time to calm him down, but at length I derived his origin from the unsearched North as well as from a settlement of peoples that worshiped a Plane of Water. The deity of this plane was in his own language and not very transferable to common. Furthermore the child from the Northern Waters (as I will furthermore call this settlement) could speak but little of common. The others in his party were wary of strangers and held an air of embarrassment that they could not communicate well. Of the tribe, I believe one was a female, perhaps she was the most curious of the group. By broken common the boy indicated that the girl was his sisling and would not let me near to speak to her. She, of the five, carried a pair of small short swords of crude make. With my limited knowledge of swordsmanship and the science of armory, I could tell only that they were not a product of Southern or Costal make, perhaps of the Free City West. The clothing of the troupe wore relied on a strong color motif of blue and green of flowing style. Like water, I would guess and attributed to their goddess (I'm not sure of gender at this point either). Small marks, looking like a pictograph of a fish was on the right temple of each. All were healthy and lean in shape, and I must say rather militant. On a whin, and by the expression that the girl looked at the swords, physical prowess was highly regarded by the Northern Water peoples and their deity. When asked why they traveled so far from their homes, they told me that their lands were not producing sustenance that they needed. A rumor of a peoples invading the outskirts of their waters and poisoning the lands brought "scouting" parties to roam farther and farther out, in search of violent of arnarchic adversaries. It seemed to me that these children wished to prove themselves by traveling farther than those others. What struck me as odd, was the confused look that the both held while describing his trials. After dealing with peoples for so long in travels, I could read the doubting air the boy spread, as if he didn't believe himself as to the reason and rumors of the Water. At that point, I invited the troupe back to my campsite. Close to the central Free City, I was told by the leader boy of their skittishness of meeting the Freemen. Promising secrecy, we camped and the others slept while the boy, Gerane as he told me his surname was, spoke of histories. Occasionally, I felt the presence of the girl, Gerra, at my back. I told her once come forth, but she chose to melt back into the trees, much to the dismay of her brother who thought I was offended. ........religious thoughts........ As to the religion of the Northern Waters, the theories seemed rather opaque. Gerane explained through that night and the next, mostly children stories and bedtime remarks mothers tell the little ones to sleep and behave. Some, though, were very interesting to my thirsty head. My hand was cramped for days after with the urge to write down all that he told me. To name the deity, I tried to have him sound out as well as he could and explain the terms in his language, which I was steadily picking up. At this point, I name the deity: In common, I would discern that the Waters term "My" is 'ancient waters' and "Ann" 'guardian'. The addition of the "e" to 'Anne' adds further definition of 'born of'. Combined, the term takes on an ethereal form of a 'guardian born of ancient waters'. Myanne generally takes the form in tales as a woman comparable in the Realms to a water sprite. She is veiled in some stories, and the sight of her face in a whole form is to bring death or life to her chosen. Her followers, the people of the Northern Waters, or the "Myanna" ('dedicated of Myanne'), use fighting and war games as a way to impress the goddess, who has been known to take interest in things of beauty, whether physical or internal. To fight, unlike the melee of our general peoples, is a religious experience and serious combat is only taken as a last resort to honorable discourse. As to the adversaries of Myanne, Gerane was fearful and closelipped to discuss these secrets. He gave no reason except that "other-planars" could not be spoken about. Hopefully I will be able to encourage further information over these topics. At the end of my pleasant conversation and theory collection, I gifted the typical typical knowledge-gift of robes for each of the children. More at ease with my presence, I had even coaxed the others to talk a bit of common and they thanked me, though commenting that the robes would hinder movement when needed. Gerra mumbled in her language and I believe she said something about using the garments as horse rolls. She, true to my forethought, was leery of speaking at all to me during those days. The most unnerving habit of never meeting my gaze I hoped was only personal and not a common trait of the Myanna women. The oldest boy, one by the name of Berre, drew me a map of the area they had travelled and I recognized the southern points close to the Free City. Parting with the children was a difficult situation, as I wished to follow and learn more. With my map in hand I returned to the City and immediately sent these musings for others of my acquaintance to contepilate. At further time, I hope to travel to the Northern Waters and have all ready set out to the taverns of sorts which house comrades - in - arms of repute. Until then, I desire that you have read and been of interest. This is a short letter that was found with a map. The Map has Tang Hua as a land mark. The rest I don't racognize but it shows a few places that may be interesting. Here is the letter. AMOLE 157 Today I felt the sun for the first in a long while. It's been so hard waiting thru these months, in the caverns of the mountain heart. Maybe if I waited for just one or two of the men, it would pass more quickly. But this freedom I feel not. The urgency upon the land is apparent and I know all of the Legion must have heard the call. One is here already, Tabitha of the Falcons lies as I write, upon the waiting ground within the columns. Jonah has sent word by passenger pigeon that he is within a fortnight travel. Poor child, I deny the evil that might abridge his souls' purity. He is young, but the earth calls .... Ah, the ground trembles at my door. Tabitha awakens and yet another of my seasoned troupe arrived. The sun is so beautiful, but Arya awaits every morning if the deed is done. -Mistnisr Par Here, off the top of my head, is what I gathered from the last event, mostly thanks to sharing scrolls with Rhoe. Principle among the items collected from the Crimson Ork raids was a book written by Rohn, the (only) surviving ebon druid. That book was a wealth of information, and it confirmed the theory that the wrathmen suggested in the View- namely, that the crimson orks were being led by some other power. The book revealed the intelligence behind the Orks to be the illithids- or rather, mind flayers. The book spoke of several swords, one of which survived the ancient war (the war that killed the other ebon druids and left Lyon's keep as a ruin, I surmised). I forget what it's name was. In addition, the book spoke of a ritual, and described how to cast it. This ritual was to 'connect you to magical power'. Apparently there was several ways of casting the ritual, with different effects, and an error could be disasterous. Items needed were a magical well (such as the well that raised everyone slain in tourneys?), a magical circle, and the candles. The candles were Ebon druid artifacts that were imbibed wiuth magical power. They were not seen by anyone that I know that day, but keep your eyes out for them. Of other items, a troll skin was seen, but not recovered from the ruins. The troll skin is useful in combat, but I do not think integral to the ritual or anything. Many scrolls were seen, rumors passsed that Yan-ti eggs were components in the ritual (that's nice, but any that we recovered will be uselessly spoiled before they'll be needed.), and oh yeah, tourneys were fought. > > Of other items, a troll skin was seen, but not recovered from the ruins. >The troll skin is useful in combat, but I do not think integral to the ritual >or anything. Many scrolls were seen, rumors passsed that Yan-ti eggs were >components in the ritual (that's nice, but any that we recovered will be >uselessly spoiled before they'll be needed.), and oh yeah, tourneys were fought. I was told by the gypsy fortune-teller in the dungeon that we needed troll-skin to remove the Orc's power. Didn't Topknot leave the event with the troll-skin? ... Meerkat is fixed. So is Randall. Lots of proper toasting liquids and a raise will suffice. I will do my damnedest to get you the details, but at this rate it seems that we may have unleased a Dreamdemon from them, and he and The Champion want to kick everyone's ass in the Dreamscape. We also need to get together with the assorted followers of Aurora to figure out how we are to wipe out the "Darkness" out of the Dreamscape. The Dreamdemon spoke of killing the weakened, trapped individual who lives in the tower (Vladmir?) and rewriting the world after they have... um... erased it. Ilgoth (they guy who was nice enuf to mark me) sez we have to do something about this. re: the competition. It is going on as we speak. Our actions are being judged. The winner will have say over the fate of the souls of the other contestants. The winner's backing deity will have say over the future of the world. No Pressure. This missive raises a bunch of questions. I would like to know what "the competition" is, if we can affect it, and if we want to... Furthermore, I want to know how to kill Ilgoth, after I felt like I did a perfectly good job of it this summer. It is rumored that Ilgoth must be killed three times. It seems that this Ilgoth has a considerable amount of power, as he has restored himself to life, "marked Lars" with that scaly business, sent missives to me, etc. We need to find out how to put him in his place. Meerkat has an object attached to his clan sash that has the image of an eye on it. Meerkat is completly unaware of it except when he is looking directly at it. At that time his only coment is "Oh, thats always been there." After which he promptly forgets he ever saw it, again. Since it hasn't always been there unless the rest of us could never see it before, it is probably something to look into. I can't cast the identify spell anymore or I would have. Tetch is certain that it hasn't always been there, and it disturbs her. Since it appeared about the same time he went beserk, we can assume the two are related. To say any more would be blind speculation. > Meerkat has an object attached to his clan sash that has the image >of an eye on it. To say any more would be blind speculation. > I have identified this pin in the past. It is half of the dreamdemon's scalp. The other half, I believe was within Randall himself. Regarding Tetch, there is a problem. Ever since a number of people, many of us included, ransacked her mother's tomb, she has been knocked out of balance. Her Kal want her to, as she put it, "kill all the homids". She is trying not to, but that may change. The Marshlands event last weekend was a great strain to her, as one of her braeling tried to use her true name against her, among other things. I am afraid that I have not helped matters. During the course of Meerkat's possession, he/the dreamdemon cast some type of Death Wish on her. I was trying to help get rid of it, and identified her/the spell. As a side note, I advise against casting Identify on Tetch if you can possibly avoid it (it hurts). Once I saw what it was, I tried to disenchant it. This had some unfortunate side effects, namely Tetch in shock/coma/unconsciousness. I Identified her again, realised what had happened, and did the only thing I knew of to fix something which has been Disenchanted. I cast Repair Magic Weapon on her. This brought her back to consciousness, but may have had some side effects. I don't think she was pleased. I did get some interesting information from the Identification. Her Kal are pissed. Really pissed. They are watching the twenty of us. They seem to be watching Lady Anne, but they seem to hold little blame on her. They are beyond pissed at Sean O'Quinlan and Randall. Seems one of them ransacked the temple room for all it was worth, and the other stole her mother's remains. This is a mistake which we need to try to rectify. Lohrner and I are trying to collect the things which were taken from the Tomb to return them, specifically the remains. If you can help with this, it would be appreciated. Tetch also is still strongly bound to Nemesis, as a side note. Peregrine - grey rook Stuart - grey pawn Didn't I hear a while back that the Grey Company had left the board? Only one more message and that should bring you up to date. McKrye |
