yf'inw - Key Terms and Phrases

(OOC PRONUCNIATION NOTE: "csh" indicates a "geek lisp" sound. Press teeth together, hold tongue against the roof of the mouth, and push air out around the sides of your teeth)

KEY TERMS AND PHRASES:

inw (een-WUH) – “Our Broken Fork.” The symbol of the species.

yf’inw (eye-VEEN-WUH) – “the Forked Tongue.” Name of language. Literally “Language of our marking (the broken fork).”

q’xhouw (cshk-SAE-eeh-WAH) – “Death Contractor,” term for an any-job mercenary

no`ut vei'qraxh-dtuo (na-OOT VA-heyEEH-shRUHK-suh-choo-OH) – “Until shade (death) may you (plural) well darken (struggle/fight/kill).” Dismissive term used for other species. Effectively means, “You all should fight until you die.”

z’xt-roe (shk-rrAH) – “you are acknowledged.” Greeting to other species that indicates respect, or caution.

z’xt-roei (shk-rrah-EEH) – “you (plural) are acknowledged.” Commonly used to acknowledge a party of power.

q’io-oe (csho-AH) – “Tell.” Neutral greeting to other species. Applies to individual or a group. Effectively means, “speak your peace.”

ut bcax (OOT puck) – “Take/feel shade (death).” Said to those that are deliberately assassinated. Indicates gratitude for the opportunity to create death.

qraxe (shRUHK) – “(You) darken.” Neutral term of farewell for other species. Literally: “You go struggle/fight/kill.”

qraxi (shRUHK-eeh) – “(You plural) darken.” Neutral term of farewell for other species, applied to a group of people.

qraxi-zk (shRUHK-eeCH) – “(You plural) all darken.” Neutral term of farewell for other species, applied to a group, indicating the group as a single entity. Literally, “You go struggle/fight/kill together.”

pci aut (zeeh-EYE-oot) – “Shadow (used ambiguously) brightened.” Term of farewell, applied to any number, but typically reserved for an individual. Indicates great respect. Effectively means, “There was much Shadow (positive) in the time with you.” Suggests time spent with the individual had meaning/purpose.

t’qeo-bc (thIP) – “Flicker.” Derogatory term only applied to other species. Indicates uselessness and weakness, as a flicker generates little shadow and little light.
