A Faerie Lullabye

This was written and performed for the Bardic Tourney at Queen of Hearts XVIII for Team Chimeron's Queen Tara Harkon. It won first place.

She came from long ago, when heroes walked the earth
When gods watched over weddings, and faeries blessed a birth
When mermaids swam the oceans, and dragons ruled the air
And she was born much more than a maiden fair.

She came from high above, in a castle in the sky
Where babes were born with magic, and everyone could fly
Where the Fair Folk had their kingdom, and the goblins made their dens
And she would walk among them with her friends

High, high above the clouds
She would fly, and look down on the crowds
And they would point and stare and wonder
What she was doing there
But she would fly back to her
Home in the sky

She lived a hero's life, when she came to this land
With the glamour all around her, and a weapon in her hand
The people came to love her, and raised her as their lord
She ruled with a tempered voice and a silver sword

High, high above the clouds
She would fly, and look down on the crowds
And they would point and stare and wonder
What she was doing there
But she would fly back to her
Home in the sky

Strong and brave, but sometimes misbehaved
She would save the day and then quietly sneak away
She took flight, one dark fateful night
But she's still around, or so they say
If you look up at the end of the day

You'll see her high, high above the clouds
She will fly, and look down on the crowds
And they will point and stare and wonder
What she was doing there
She will fly back to her
Home in the sky
