A rumor for those places and people who accept them:

In the unclaimed stretches between Chimeron and the Borderlands nearby
but north of Kuless El`lar, a farmer and his cart horse returning from
market at dusk were spooked by a shrieking demon with mangy flesh. The
unfortunate farmer dove from his cart into the bushes to avoid being
trampled by the monster’s many cloven hoofs. The fiery eyed fiend then
proceeded to smash cart, goods and work horse in a senseless fury before
charging off down the path and out of sight.
